Grenzebach process technology experts at Achema
When the process industry world meets at Achema in Frankfurt from 11 to 15 June 2018, Grenzebach can be found at Stand B62 in Hall 5.0, beating the drum for efficient technologies. "Whether thermal or mechanical processing, we supply our customers in the process industry with equipment and systems for all kinds of applications. Our portfolio covers all process steps in bulk solids and powder processing," says Michael Meyer, Director of Process Technology at Grenzebach. Sturdy and efficient technology at your fingertips. Grenzebach's showcases feature a rotary drum and a VACUPRESS compactor, representing thermal and mechanical processes.
Thermal treatment with calciners or dryers
Drying, calcination, recrystallization, cooling. Grenzebach rotary drum processes have proven reliable and successful in the thermal treatment of bulk solids for many years. "Whether calciner or dryer, our systems make efficient use of waste heat – thus saving up to 15 per cent primary energy. Plus, we combine equipment components in a space-saving manner whenever possible. The overall size can thus be reduced by up to 40 per cent", says Meyer. Space-saving, energy-efficient and powerful. Grenzebach rotary drums can handle temperatures up to 1,400 degrees Celsius – and cool down products to below 80 degrees Celsius in a single step.
Experts in powder and bulk solids processing
Grenzebach's expertise in rotary drum processes goes along with its wide range of equipment and services for the process industry. The company supports its customers with the design, modernisation, installation and commissioning of turn-key systems for powder and bulk solids processing. And it goes without saying that pilot tests and trials, inspections, measurements/surveying, settings and calibration, damage analysis and advice are provided as well. In this context Grenzebach also benefits from the experience and know-how of the former Babcock GmbH.
Mechanical process technology - the VACUPRESS compactor as an example
With its VACUPRESS compactor, Grenzebach also demonstrates its mechanical process technology capabilities at this year's Achema. This machine can deaerate and compact powders smaller than 40 µm and weighing less than 750 kg/m³. The compactor is used upstream from bagging and packaging systems to reduce shipping volumes and dust formation and to improve material handling characteristics. The VACUPRESS offers a lot of practical benefits. It is a flexible technology that can also be used in metered feeding for downstream process steps or as a precompactor in combination with granulators, for instance.
Gentle production of flakes through low process forces
Bulk material volumes are reduced by up to 75 per cent in the VACUPRESS – in a very gentle manner. "The process forces applied in the VACUPRESS are relatively low and thus have only a minimal impact on the characteristics of the products treated. The product flakes and slivers produced can be converted back to their original fine powdered state at any time without having to apply strong shearing forces", explains the Grenzebach specialist Meyer.
