- The expansion will serve the increasing demand in the region and further improve customer service
- Grenzebach is investing around two million euros into the expansion – further investments are planned
PUNE, HAMLAR/India, Germany. The Grenzebach Group, headquartered in Germany, announces that on June 15, 2023, the contract to expand their site in Pune, India, was signed. The current sales and service branch will be merged with the new manufacturing site at the Pune location. The manufacturing site is scheduled to open in the fall of 2023. In the course of the expansion, the company will create around 30 new jobs in the first phase.
Investment in the Asian market
The Grenzebach Group will be investing around two million euros in the expansion, thereby reaffirming their trust in the Asian market and the economic region of India.
“We firmly believe in the Indian market and expect enormous potential for growth within the next five years.”
Ralf Jäger, COO of the Grenzebach Group, adds: "With the strengthening of our Indian location, we are making a statement for the Pune region, India and Asia."
Grenzebach wants to further improve the service for Asian and, above all, Indian customers by expanding the site in Pune and create closer proximity to customers in service and order processing. The company also expects sales potential of three million euros in the first two years, increasing subsequently. The initial investment costs should be amortized rather quickly, according to projections by the Grenzebach Group.
The decision to invest in Pune coincides with the positive development of the market and the increased demand for glass products such as solar glass, as well as gypsum production plants for plasterboard, gypsum wallboard, and insulation board. Grenzebach traces this back to the rising demand for office buildings, housing, and infrastructure development, and the Indian government's sustainability agenda.
Prasanna Hegde, MD Grenzebach India, emphasizes the importance of the new production facility: "The Indian market has seen tremendous growth in the last three years, and this will continue in the future. The expansion, complementing our plant in Jiashan, China, will enable us to serve our customers in the Eastern Hemisphere even better - with equipment and machinery to German standards, in high quality, at local cost levels."
The start of production at the new site in Pune is scheduled for October 2023.
